Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree....

As a child, I remember quite fondly searching for the perfect "rustic" tree in the wilderness of NW WA. We would always bring our sleds, and after trekking for hours through the snowy mountains, we would set up a camp fire and play in the snow for the rest of the day. After Mr. J., Sr. and I got married, I vowed that we would never buy a synthetic excuse of a tree that would make any arborist fall over in horror. I would even venture to say that I made fun of such people....pathetic!

As the years passed, and Mr. J., Sr. got busier and busier with work, and I would have to wait longer and longer to get our tree. It seemed like it was becoming much too daunting to find time with work, naps, schedules, etc. I LOVE Christmas, and I really disliked waiting until Dec. 23rd to get a tree. SO....I joined countless others that purchased my tree in a box from Lowe's. Better still, our tree is"pre-lit," so all I need to do is put it together and plug it in. Voile...a perfectly lit masterpiece!

I will admit that sometimes I feel guilty that my kids don't get to experience the "great outdoors" as I did, but we have our own traditions now. Instead of rising early in the morning and heading out for "Black Friday," we sleep in, make a big breakfast, wear our jammies until noon, put in a Christmas CD, drink hot apple cider, and set up our Christmas tree. The munchkins are thrilled to find ornaments that they've made in years past, or hold some special memory for them. My hope is that our kids will look back on our family traditions with fondness just as I do. So., I give you (drumroll please!).....The McJason family Christmas tree!
(ok...haven't figured out how to take good pictures in the dark, but you get the picture:).
All decorated and ready to go...total time from start to finish (un-boxing, plugging in, and decorating) approx. 20-30 minutes. Now that's time management!
Again, totally blurry, but you get the picture.

Mr. J. and Miss M. adding their own personal touches.

Darling D putting on an ornament. He saw the tree and remarked,"ooh, I wuv it!"

May we all remember "The Reason for the Season," and rejoice in the birth of our Savior!
